Description

Hi all,

$500 (pretty much my cost basis) https://imgur.com/a/PNDfP2t

After years of using stock/lightly-modded Realforce boards, I built up a project board that has:

Purple Deskey MX Sliders with Deskey landing pads (they slightly reduce the upstroke sound and are intended as a silencing ring alternative for the Deskey sliders)
Deskey Stab Housings with MX Sliders (these have been lubed)
GMK CYL WOB Hangul keycaps (all the unused keys are included, the interior packaging has some damage and the 6u spacebar was sourced from a GMK CYL WOB Exotics set)--these are barely used and have no shine
OEM 55g Domes

A couple notes:

I hand filed the left control key to fit a standard Deskey housing as the 87U has a non-standard housing/slider to accomodate an LED, which was also desoldered
One of the OEM Realforce 1u housings was replaced with a Deskey housing because it was slightly loose (the original is still included)
As you'll see in the pictures, all of the original parts as well as the extra Deskey parts (more clear Deskey housings, a few leftover Deskey sliders, the stock black on black Realforce keycaps, the stock black Realforce sliders and housings \[a further note: a few of the housings/sliders may be damaged\]
The right side of both shift keys needs some more tuning--there's a little bit of stiffness/friction sometimes at some angles
The soundtest is a little misleading because of some noise reduction (to account for the AC), I'd say the tenor is very close to how the board sounds in real life.

How the board feels:

I'm actually shocked at how good the Deskey sliders are. I've heard bad things about wobble etc., but in many ways I actually prefer the feel of this board to my stock Realforce boards. The one clear downside at the moment is lack of uniform feeling--although the board overall feels great, some tuning is clearly required to make every key feel identical.

Let me know of any questions! Please comment before PMing.

Best,

Ben
