Hello!
I have a very uncommon Beamspring 5253/5254 type keyboard, which is unusual in that it has a different PCB than either the 5251 or the white displaywriter type board (but has the same layout as the latter). It has a locking Caps lock too, which is interesting (and it pops up when you hit the shift key when caps is depressed).
I was assisted by several great people on the Keyboard Institute discord server when I initially purchased this. Specifically, purdeaandrei, who fashioned my a handwired solution for adapting this to USB (with QMK support). I have not used this in a while, but at one point it did work totally fine with this solution (with exception of one column, 2nd from far right, which did not give signal and may need some re-soldering).
I am selling as I use my 5251 at work, and use the numpad a lot so I prefer that layout. Because of this I do not care to mess with this board further. The board is currently adapted with a USB cable and a 3d-printed solution to hold the skinny cable.
The case is in extremely good shape and has no major blemishes (minor ones as expected for a 30+ year old board). I can post more photos as requested, including internal. I did take it apart a while ago and the inside is clean with no rust or anything.
Included are: The board, The orginal adapter and cable, The custom adapter purdeaandrei made (with USB-C cable), Some JLCPCB ordered PCBs I ordered in an attempt to make my own adapter, and a new case foam should you restore it. The board came with all black keycaps when I got it, I also bought some selectric keycaps which I will also include.
I am selling this for a lower price than most people do as I am selling it AS-IS. The board functions to the best of my knowledge but will need some messing with to get it totally up and running. I plugged it into my computer today and some keys gave signal, while others did not. I believe this may be due to the connector shifting slightly loose in my moving the box around, as the last time I used it a year ago all keys worked except for the one column as mentioned above.
I am looking for $800 + shipping (CONUS).
Thanks for looking!
