Tired of getting bullied by all the mech keyboard kids who just have more money than you? This is the keyboard version of the scrawny kid in class who happens to know kung fu.
This is a brand new build consisting of all new components. The board is one of the builds in my ongoing experiments to find the cheapest possible route to a legitimately premium experience for feel and sound on a custom mechanical keyboard. This is a KBDfans A60 60% CNC aluminum case with stainless steel weight modified to its limits with a gummy worm gasket mount (like a Bakeneko), PCB with 4 flex cuts, and an FR4 half plate. In this configuration, the board has a very flexy typing feel all around, but especially on the alphas, and the sound is very quiet for a conventional linear switch setup. If you like an excessive dose of flex and bounce, this board is worth considering. If you prefer a stiffer, more direct feel, this is not a good option. This board runs smooth and fast, and should improve further when the switches have a chance to break in.
Specs are as follows:
KBDfans A60 silver case (all plate supports cut off and replaced with perimeter sorbothane blocks)
50A silicone gummy worm gasket mount
Modified Plain60 Flex Edition PCB (2 additional flex cuts added to design) flashed with VIA firmware
FR4 half plate
Everglide V2 stabilizers (UHMW 5mil tape holee mod)
Gateron Milky Pro Yellow switches (stems bag lubed G205 G0 - spacebar has 65g TX 16mm - springs bag lubed Krytox G105)
PBT 9009 style cherry profile keycap set with 3 options for mod colors
Polyfil at center of the keyboard to attenuate and adjust the bounce and travel distance on the flex cut rows.
